Plan Life Like a Vacation
Have you ever planned a vacation with lots of details—where you’ll go, what you’ll do, how you’ll get there? We spend so much time planning one trip, but shouldn’t our lives deserve just as much attention? Life moves quickly, and sometimes things happen that we don’t expect. Sometimes we get to write our own rules, and sometimes life writes them for us.
If you feel like your life is running on “auto-pilot,” it’s time to take control. It’s important to take full responsibility for where you are and where you want to go. Stop blaming others for where you are today—no one is coming to save you. But here’s the good news: you can make a plan and put yourself in a better position for the opportunities that come your way.
I believe we all have the power to steer our lives in the direction we want. Just like a vacation, your life deserves to be planned with purpose and intention. You’re in the driver’s seat. Let’s make sure you’re ready for whatever adventure is waiting for you!
If you have planned your life with the same detail. This is one vacation. Shouldn’t your life be worth a plan.
12 Week Year:
The 12-Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington emphasizes setting goals for 12 weeks rather than a year. It encourages focused action, clear planning, and frequent reviews, creating a sense of urgency and accountability to achieve more in less time. The approach helps break down long-term goals into manageable, short-term objectives, improving productivity and results.
Step 1, Acknowledge where you are right now.
Where are you in your life right now? Maybe things feel messy, and that’s okay. For some of you, certain parts of your life might be really good. But remember, no part of life is perfect—there’s always room to grow. So, what can you look forward to? The best is yet to come!
Search on Pinterest for the Wheel of Life. It will come with instructions. Interpret them based on you and your life.
The Wheel of Life is a tool that helps you see all the important parts of your life, like family, work, health, and fun. Imagine a wheel with different sections, and each section represents a part of your life. If some parts of the wheel are stronger and others are weaker, the wheel may not roll smoothly. By looking at the wheel, you can see which parts need more attention so you can make your life more balanced and happy.
Pick the categories that apply in your life. Under each category describe your life now. Be honest with yourself this is for your eyes only.
Step 2: In your wildest dreams what would your life look like?
Using the same process as above. Write in present tense, your best life.
Remember there is no rush, give it a lot of thought and don’t rush it. It’s not in stone and it may change. Do the best you can.
Watch the post “The 12 Week Year” to understand the plan this is the first step. Knowing what you have and creating YOUR best life. Don’t let someone else create it for you.
Love, Jo-Ann
